Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive method of performing an operation through small cuts rather than one large incision.

A small camera is inserted through one opening so the surgeon can see the area being treated. Special surgical instruments are used through other small openings.

For suitable operations, laparoscopic surgery may offer smaller incisions, less wound discomfort and a quicker return to normal activities.

Not every operation can or should be performed laparoscopically. The appropriate approach depends on the condition, the patient's health and the surgeon's assessment.
